BAKERSFIELD, CA (KUZZ) — Former Cal State Bakersfield assistant men’s basketball coach Kevin Mays has pleaded no contest to three felony charges including possession of child pornography, pimping, and drug possession while armed.
Mays entered the plea in court on Wednesday. Under a plea agreement, Mays will receive four years in prison and lifetime sex offender registration.
Prosecutors say Mays collected money from a sex worker, reposted her sex ads, and encouraged her to get “dates.”
An examination of Mays’ cell phone turned up the child porn files, and guns and drugs were found inside his vehicle and home.
Mays will be sentenced July 30, 2026.
