LAS VEGAS, NV (KUZZ) — A man was arrested in Las Vegas on Wednesday in connection with a shooting earlier this week on Forrest Street in Bakersfield, authorities said.
The Bakersfield Police Department identified the suspect as 43-year-old Christian Villasenor of Lancaster. Detectives located and arrested Villasenor in the Las Vegas area.
The shooting was reported Tuesday night in the 1700 block of Forrest Street and left one man critically injured. Officials said the victim is now in stable condition at a hospital.
Investigators believe the victim was specifically targeted and that he and the suspect knew each other. However, the motive remains under investigation. Police said there is no evidence at this time that the shooting was related to gang activity.
Authorities said there are no outstanding suspects. Extradition proceedings for Villasenor are pending.
