BAKERSFIELD, CA (KUZZ) — A 17-year-old former high school quarterback has been identified as the teenager who was fatally shot during a football game at Bakersfield’s Independence High School Friday night.
The New York Post reports Levi Brown was shot just minutes after the game began at the school on Old River Road. He later died at Kern Medical.
Police have arrested a 15-year-old boy on suspicion of murder and gang activity.
Investigators say Brown and the suspect knew each other and that the shooting stemmed from a fight, rather than being a random act of violence.
