BAKERSFIELD, CA (KUZZ) — Six felony charges have been filed against an 18-year-old Bakersfield man accused of planning retaliatory violence following last Friday’s deadly shooting at an Independence High School football game.
Jaheim Leverett was arrested Saturday. Police allege he was found with a loaded firearm, masks and gloves as investigators worked to prevent possible retaliation following the shooting death of 17-year-old Levi Brown.
Leverett pleaded not guilty and remains in custody on $200,000 bail. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for September 8.
Meanwhile, prosecutors have filed charges against the 15-year-old boy accused of fatally shooting Brown.
The teenager is scheduled to appear in Juvenile Court Wednesday morning. The Kern County District Attorney’s Office has not released his name or disclosed the charges filed against him.
