Kelsea Ballerini‘s music video for her “Half of My Hometown” sees the singer taking a nostalgic trip to her hometown of Knoxville, Tennessee.

Ballerini co-wrote “Half of My Hometown” with Jimmy Robbins, Nicolle Galyon, Shane McAnally and Ross Copperman.

The visual sees Ballerini exploring what would have happened if she’d not moved out of her hometown.

The video, which features scenes shot at Ballerini’s high school, her home and the nearby streets, and the places she grew up as a child, begins with the singer moving to Nashville in a truck.

Then, it shows Ballerini imagining that she has stayed back at home, enjoying life with family and friends, graduating and taking up a job, getting married and becoming a mother, and thinking about a singing career right through all these.

The second half of the visual depicts how things actually turned out for Ballerini, like how she becomes a big star upon moving to Nashville and gets fellow Knoxvillian country superstar Kenny Chesney to feature in her song with his backing vocals.

“It feels very comfortable and easy to play because I think it’s a very realistic picture of what my life would be like had I stayed,” Ballerini says of the clip. “It brings joy to my heart to know that I did leave and that I got to chase this dream and that I’m getting to come back and appreciate this life that I maybe could have had had I stayed.”
