A bill passed the State Assembly to provide funding for the Independent Living Center of Kern County. Assemblyman Rudy Salas of Bakersfield wrote AB 2565 because the local center is one of only three in the state that does not receive the minimum base funding of $235 thousand a year. He expects passage in the Senate. The center on Commerce Drive in Bakersfield gets no state funding, something Salas called an inequity.
