Kern Resource Center

The Kern Resource Center is opening a school in Northwest Bakersfield for families looking outside public education for alternatives for their children. The school will offer core classes like Science, Math, English and many electives as well. There are 400 student spots and open enrollment starts July 4th.

Bakersfield Museum of Art is hosting summer art camp for kids 2-17 starting in June. It will be a FUN opportunity for students to stay creative and engaged in the arts during their summer vacation.

The Historic Union Cemetery needs volunteers for their Annual Memorial Day Event. Friday May 27th, they need volunteers to place flags on over 5,000 gravesites and to remove the flags on Monday May 30th

BMOA Art After Dark

Bakersfield Museum of Art announces the return of Art After Dark on May 27th from 7-9 p.m. Guests will be able to tour art exhibits, enjoy inspired drinks by Tiki-Ko and much more. General admission is $5 at the door.

1,000 FLAGS

The return of a 1,000 flags is going to be at the Park at Riverwalk on Memorial weekend May 28-30th. Come out and join us honor our American Heroes with a field of flags. You won’t want to miss this amazing scenery.

Bakersfield National Cemetery

The Bakersfield National Cemetery wants you to join them on Saturday, May 28th at 9:00 a.m. for their annual Memorial Day Ceremony. This patriotic event will pay tribute to those who have served with dignity and honor. The ceremony will include the Kern County Fire Department color guard, music and a flyover by the Fire Departments Huey Helicopter which served in Vietnam.

The Bakersfield Youth Fine Arts Academy will host a summer workshop on musical theater and will finish with a production of Mary Poppins. This is for ages 6-18, with classes In June and the Production in July $350.00 per student, enroll at bakersfieldyouthfinearts.com


The Boys & Girls Club of Kern County is currently accepting online registration for their Volleyball Club clinics to be held this summer for children ages 10-18 at the E.L. Jack & Monica Armstrong Youth Center. The first session starts June 6th. The 4-week sessions are for all skill levels.
