KUZZ “$1000 Minute” Official Rules
The following are the official rules for the KUZZ “$1000 Minute” Contest (the “Contest”), sponsored by Buck Owens Production Company, Inc., licensee of KUZZ-FM (the “Station”). These rules are in addition to the Station’s general contest rules available at KUZZ.com.
1. Sponsor
The Contest is sponsored by Buck Owens Production Company, Inc., licensee of KUZZ-FM, Bakersfield, California.
2. Eligibility
Contest is open to legal U.S. residents, 18 years of age or older, residing within the KUZZ listening area. Employees of Buck Owens Production Company, Inc., KUZZ AM/FM, KCWR AM, KRJK FM, participating sponsors, advertising agencies, and immediate family members or persons living in the same household are not eligible to participate or win.
Contest winners of a KUZZ cash contest are only eligible to win once every thirty (30) days. Standard contest winners are eligible once every fourteen (14) days.
3. Contest Period
The Contest begins Monday, May 18, 2026, and will air weekday mornings at approximately 7:30 AM Pacific Time during “Brent & Ness in the Morning,” excluding Station-observed holidays. The Station reserves the right to modify, suspend, or terminate the Contest at any time without notice.
4. How To Play
At approximately 7:30 AM each weekday, KUZZ will solicit callers to participate in the Contest. The tenth (10th) caller to 661-842-5555, as determined by the Station’s telephone system, will be selected as the contestant.
The contestant will be asked a series of ten (10) trivia questions. The sixty (60) second timer begins immediately at the conclusion of the first question being read by the host.
Contestants may continue guessing an answer to a question until:
- The correct answer is given, or
- The contestant chooses to “pass” and move to the next question.
If a contestant passes on a question, the game will continue and the contestant may return to unanswered questions if time remains.
To win the Contest prize, the contestant must correctly answer all ten (10) questions within the allotted sixty (60) seconds.
If all ten questions are not answered correctly before time expires, no prize will be awarded for that game.
5. Questions and Gameplay
Questions are determined solely by the Station and its representatives. Questions may include pop culture, history, entertainment, sports, country music, general knowledge, or other trivia categories.
Questions will change daily; however, previously used questions may be repeated during future games at the Station’s discretion.
All decisions by the Station regarding question accuracy, pronunciation, acceptable answers, timing, contestant eligibility, technical issues, and gameplay are final.
6. Prize
Each winning contestant who correctly answers all ten (10) questions within sixty (60) seconds will receive one thousand dollars ($1,000).
Prize is non-transferable and no substitution will be permitted except at the sole discretion of the Station. Winners are responsible for any applicable taxes associated with prize acceptance.
7. Winner Verification
Potential winners may be required to provide valid government-issued identification and execute any required affidavits, releases, or tax documentation prior to receiving a prize. Failure to comply may result in disqualification.
8. Conditions
By participating, contestants agree:
- To comply with all Contest rules and Station decisions;
- That KUZZ, Buck Owens Production Company, Inc., and participating sponsors are not responsible for technical failures, phone interruptions, dropped calls, or human error;
- That the Station may use the winner’s name, voice, likeness, hometown, and photograph for promotional purposes without additional compensation unless prohibited by law.
9. General Rules
KUZZ reserves the right to amend these rules or discontinue the Contest at any time due to circumstances beyond its control.
Contest is subject to all federal, state, and local laws and regulations and is void where prohibited.
