ANTI-POVERTY RALLY SEEKS BUDGET BUMP

The anti-poverty group Health and Human Services Network held a rally Friday morning at Bakersfield’s Liberty Bell urging Governor Brown to give more money to help the state’s poor. Spokesman Josth Stenner says the surplus in California’s budget should be going to child and health care programs, and for people with developmental disabilities. The group also wants the cuts made to social services in previous years to be restored and for the minimum wage to go up to $15 an hour.

The rally was one of four held in major cities across the state.
