Cal Fire Making Headway On CZU Complex

(Santa Cruz County, CA) — Cal Fire is upbeat about the progress on the wildfires in the Santa Cruz Mountains. The CZU August Lightning Complex is now 17-percent contained, up from 13-percent last night. Total acreage burned is just under 79-thousand-acres, but it only grew by about 200 acres overnight. However, the number of structures destroyed is now over 300 and they expect that number to increase as damage assessment ramps up. Seven people are listed as missing in the fire, up from four yesterday. Sheriff’s officials say it was a quiet night as residents heeded evacuation orders.
