(Washington, DC) — The Trump administration is rejecting California’s request for financial help with a series of deadly wildfires that erupted in August. The Governor’s Office of Emergency Services learned this week that its request for a major presidential disaster declaration for the Creek Fire and others has been turned down. Governor Gavin Newsom estimated potential federal assistance at 346-million. Brian Ferguson, a spokesman for the Governor’s OES, says California officials will appeal the decision.
