(Sacramento, CA) — California Attorney General Xavier Becerra is suing the state Republican Party over its unofficial ballot drop boxes. Becerra is asking a judge to make them hand over the names and contact information of every voter who used one of the unofficial drop boxes. Last week, Becerra and Secretary of State Alex Padilla ordered the GOP to remove the boxes, declaring them illegal. Becerra is investigating how the GOP is using the drop boxes. GOP leaders are refusing to give the information Becerra is requesting, saying it is protected by the Constitution.
