A new class of Bakersfield Police officers graduated the 27th Peace Officer’s Basic Academy. In a ceremony in west Bakersfield, 25 cadets now have peace officer powers having graduated BPD’s training academy. Family members or loved ones pinned the badges on the men and women before Bakersfield Police Chief Greg Terry spoke about the dedication and hard work they’ve put in over the last six months. The officers will now go to a one-month mini-academy before beginning interaction with the public under the direct supervision of a field training officer.
