Kern County Sheriff’s Office Demonstrates New Body Cameras

Members of the Kern County Sheriff’s Office held a demonstration today showcasing their new body cameras and tasers. After the Kern County Board of Supervisors approved a new contract with Axon, the KCSO will now be outfitted with new body-worn cameras. Over 300 new cameras will outfit every KCSO deputy interacting with the public. The 5-year, $5-million contract also comes with data storage so videos of every encounter can be stored on Axon’s cloud server.

The KCSO will also be getting new tasers from Axon which, when drawn from a holster, automatically turns the cameras on.
