Bakersfield Man Arrested for Hate Crime

A 33-year-old man with an active warrant was arrested for a hate crime.On July 7th, 2021, at 3:59 PM, the Bakersfield Police Department received a report of subject brandishing a knife at the employees of the King’s Drive-In restaurant, 1630 Niles Street.

Upon arrival officers detained Adrian Aceves (33) of Bakersfield. Aceves was found to have an active arrest warrant for violation of Post Release Community Supervision.

The investigation revealed Aceves approached several employees and asked their nationality. When one of the employees advised he was Arab, the suspect produced a knife and made statements and actions that he wanted to harm the victims because they were “terrorists.”

Aceves was placed under arrest for criminal threats, the commission of a hate crime and his pre-existing arrest warrant.
