Public Memorial to be Held for Fallen KCSO Deputy

Following the shooting death of Kern Sheriff’s Deputy Phillip Campas, a public memorial service will be held next Friday. The full press release is below:

A memorial service to honor the life and legacy of Kern County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Phillip Campas is scheduled for Friday, August 6, 2021, at 11 a.m. and will last approximately 90 minutes. The ceremony will take place at the Mechanics Bank Arena in downtown Bakersfield and will be open to the public.

The Sheriff’s Office will also provide a livestream of the ceremony for those who would like to join us virtually in paying tribute to Deputy Campas.

Doors will open at 9:30 a.m. Members of the media are asked to arrive by 10:00 a.m. to allow time to set up in their designated area.

Those attending the service are recommended to arrive early and carpool if possible, as parking will be limited. The parking lot at 14th and P streets will be open to the public.
