Memorial Held for Fallen KCSO Deputy

Thousands of friends, family, and law enforcement across the country gathered Friday morning for the memorial of KCSO Deputy Phillip Campas.

Law enforcement personnel from up and down California as well as some from Chicago and Texas saluted as the flag-draped casket of Deputy Phillip Campas was brought in to the Mechanics Bank Arena around 11am. Kern County Sheriff Donny Youngblood was among the speakers that included fellow officers, Marines, and family. Youngblood noted the Campas did more in his 35 years on Earth than most will do in their lifetimes.

Following the 90 minute ceremony, bagpipes played “Amazing Grace” as the casket exited the building. A procession of law enforcement then took Campas to Bakersfield National Cemetery where he was laid to rest.

Deputy Campas was shot and killed in the officer-involved-shooting in Wasco last month. End of Watch: July 25th, 2021.
