Bakersfield Man Arrested after Carjacking and Crashing into a Home

The Bakersfield Police Department has taken a man into custody early Wednesday morning.

The full release can be seen below:

On February 9th at about 4:37 AM, officers of the Bakersfield Police Department received a report of a carjacking in the 300 block of Bill Avenue. During that offense, an adult male suspect brandished a firearm at the victim and took the victim’s vehicle.

At 5:49 AM, officers responded to a report of a vehicle having collided into a residence in the 1700 block of Alta Vista Drive. Officers determined that the vehicle was the victim vehicle from the Bill Avenue carjacking and was still occupied by the uncooperative suspect. Officers were able to negotiate the suspect’s surrender and Israel Wilson (24) of Bakersfield was taken into custody. A BB gun was located in his possession.

Wilson was arrested for carjacking and associated charges. He was transported to an area hospital for injuries sustained during the collision with the residence. The home was occupied; however, no one else was injured.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Bakersfield Police Department at (661) 327-7111.
