Two Arrested Following Shooting at Oildale Walmart

The Kern County Sheriff’s Office has arrested two individuals after a shooting Monday night.

On October 10, 2022, at 6:30 p.m., Kern County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the Walmart Neighborhood Market on North Chester Avenue, after receiving multiple 911 calls of a shooting in progress inside the business.

Upon arrival, deputies immediately detained two suspects, Paul Anthony Vasquez Flores, age 38, and Michelle Louise Estrada, age 39. The victim, an adult male, sustained injuries consistent with being physically assaulted and was treated by medical personnel at the scene. Based on the information received, deputies methodically searched the interior and exterior of the business for the possibility of additional suspects and/or victims. No other suspects or victims were located.

Through the investigation, deputies learned that Flores confronted the victim inside the store and physically assaulted him. Flores then armed himself with a handgun, chased the victim out of the store and into the parking lot where he shot toward the victim. The victim ran back inside the business where the suspect again shot at him. The victim was not struck by gunfire during the incident. Deputies located evidence of the shooting at the scene and recovered the handgun used in the incident.

Paul Anthony Vasquez Flores  was arrested and booked for attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon, felon in possession of firearm, felon in possession of ammunition, and possession of stolen property. Michelle Louise Estrada was arrested and booked for conspiracy, accessory after the fact, possession of stolen property, and concealing evidence.
