BAKERSFIELD, CA (KUZZ) — Kern County lawmakers are pushing state officials to look deeper into the allegations against former county supervisor Zack Scrivner.
Assembly Member Jasmeet Bains, (D), of Delano, and State Senator Shannon Grove, (R), of Bakersfield are asking both the Attorney General and the Department of Justice to explain the lack of sex charges in the case against the 51-year-old former District 2 supervisor accused of sexually assaulting one of his minor children at their home in Tehachapi in April 2024.
Scrivner was charged with child cruelty and possession of assault weapons, but faces no sex charges.
In December 2025, Scrivner was granted mental health diversion, and the charges against him will be dropped if he successfully completes the program.
Scrivner’s aunt is Kern County District Attorney Cynthia Zimmer.
