BAKERSFIELD, CA (KUZZ) — Jury selection will continue next week in the trial of an elderly Bakersfield man accused of DUI.
The judge sent potential jurors home on Thursday after the attorney for Alan Booth, 74, was a no-show in court.
Booth is accused of driving drunk when he allegedly backed his pickup into a crowd of spectators at the 2023 Bakersfield Christmas parade.
Prosecutors say Booth also drove to a car dealership on Oak Street in 2024 with a blood-alcohol content three times the legal limit.
He faces misdemeanor and felony charges in the two cases.
The trial isn’t in session Friday, January 16, and Monday, January 19 is a court holiday, so proceedings will resume on Tuesday, January 20.
