BAKERSFIELD, CA (KUZZ) — Jury selection is set to begin next week in the trial of a Bakersfield man accused of killing an infant.
Eduardo Gutierrez, 25, was arrested in November 2024 after a 1-month-old boy was found unresponsive at a home in the 1000 block of Washington Street in east Bakersfield.
The infant died December 2, 2024 at Valley Children’s Hospital in Madera.
Authorities say in December 2024,Gutierrez was under mandatory supervision due to a prior felony domestic conviction involving the child’s mother.
Authorities are considering amending the charges to include murder.
