BAKERSFIELD, CA (KUZZ) — Kaiser Permanente healthcare workers in California, including those in Kern County, are preparing to go on strike this month.
The United Nurses Association of California has delivered a notice to Kaiser Permanente executives announcing 31,000 Kaiser workers across the state will begin a walk-out on January 26, 2026.
The workers want safer working conditions and better wages.
The strike will involve nurses, pharmacists, and other employees from nearly 20 hospitals and 200 clinics.
Kaiser Permanente has numerous medical facilities in Kern County including Bakersfield Memorial Hospital and Bakersfield Heart Hospital.
