BAKERSFIELD, CA (KUZZ) –We’ve learned the identity of a man shot and killed during an officer-involved shooting in Lake Isabella.
Fernando Padilla, 39, of Bodfish died at the scene January 11, 2026, after Kern County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a call of a person firing a gun at Kilbreth Avenue and Lake Isabella Boulevard.
The shooting occurred when deputies made contact with Padilla after he fled to the area of Highway 178 east of the Kernville off-ramp.
The Kern County District Attorney’s Office is reviewing the case.
