BAKERSFIELD, CA (KUZZ) — Former Kern County Supervisor Zack Scrivner was in court Thursday to give an update on the status of his mental health diversion program.
Scrivner was arrested in April 2024 when Kern County Sheriff’s deputies responded to his Tehachapi home after the 51-year-old allegedly sexually assaulted his 8-year-old daughter while under the influence of a psychedelic substance.
Scrivner, former District 2 supervisor, was charged with child cruelty and illegal gun possession but faced no sex charges.
The ruling on mental health diversion and the absence of sex charges sparked outrage from local and state lawmakers.
Scrivner returns to court February 26.
There’s no word if prosecutors plan to file new charges in the case.
