BAKERSFIELD, CA (KUZZ) –The head coach of the California State University Bakersfield women’s basketball team has resigned.
CSUB announced Wideman’s decision on Tuesday.
The move came about one month after Wideman was placed on paid administrative leave.
Wideman will remain with the program until April 21.
KBAK-TV reports Wideman’s resignation comes as CSUB has seen a series of departures and coaching changes across its athletics programs over the past year.
Wideman was hired in May 2024 following CSUB’s decision not to renew the contract of longtime coach Greg McCall.
Ray Alvardo will serve as interim head coach.
