BAKERSFIELD, CA (KUZZ) — A status hearing has been postponed in the case of a Kern County Sheriff’s sergeant accused of rape.
Attorneys for Steven Wells, 45, are seeking more evidence after Wells was charged with rape by force, assault, and burglary after he allegedly entered the victim’s home through an unlocked door and sexually assaulting her in March 2024.
Wells and the woman previously dated.
A hearing set for Tuesday, May 6, has been rescheduled to June 24.
