BAKERSFIELD, CA (KUZZ) — The Kern County Sheriff’s Office is reporting an officer-involved shooting in southeast Bakersfield.
Deputies responded April 10, 2026, to the 500 block of South Pepper Drive where a chase ensued when the suspect fled the area.
Authorities say the suspect vehicle was involved in a crash on eastbound Highway 58 near Weedpatch Highway and around the same time, a gunshot victim from Pepper Street was privately taken to a hospital.
Deputies responded to the crash where an officer-involved shooting killed the suspect at the scene.
No deputies were injured.
