BAKERSFIELD, CA (KUZZ) — Kern County’s Cooling Center program is getting ready for summer, running from June 1 through September 22, 2026.
Centers will open when forecast highs hit 105 in the San Joaquin and Kern River Valleys, 108 in desert areas, and 93 in Frazier Park.
Hours are 1 to 8 p.m. with daily notices issued by 11 a.m. the day before.
According to KGET, the cooling centers that will be open starting in June are:
- East Bakersfield Veterans Building, 2101 Ridge Road, Bakersfield
- The Mission of Kern County, 821 E. 21st St., Bakersfield
- Jeferson Center, 436 Jefferson Ave., Delano
- 11th Avenue Community Center, 260 W. 11th Ave., Delano
- Kern River Valley Senior Center, 6405 Lake Isabella Boulevard, Lake Isabella
- Gusher Hall, 271 California St., Maricopa
- Walker Senior Center, 505 Sunset Ave., Shafter
- Taft Community Center Activity Building, 500 Cascade Place, Taft
- Frazier Park Recreation Building, 3801 Park Drive, Frazier Park
- Hummel Community Building, 2500 20th St., Rosamond
- Strata Center, 10350 Heather Ave., California City
- The Kerr McGee Center, 100 W. California Ave., Ridgecrest
