SACRAMENTO, CA (KUZZ) — A gun bill authored by State Senator Melissa Hurtado, D-Bakersfield, has passed the Senate and is now heading to the Assembly.
SB 1220, the Peace Officer Protection Act, would strengthen penalties for illegal ghost gun offenses and extend California’s 10-year firearm ban to certain misdemeanors.
Hurtado cited rising cases of unserialized weapons, including a recent arrest in Farmersville involving a 15-year-old with a ghost AR-15.
