LAKE ISABELLA, CA (KUZZ) — The search for a missing Bakersfield man has ended after a body was recovered from the Kern River.
The Kern County Sheriff’s Office says Corey Vargas, 36, was fishing Saturday at Keyesville Beach near Lake Isabella with his 9-year-old son when he slipped into the river after trying to rescue the family dog.
The boy also fell in but survived.
Vargas’ body was found on Thursday.
