BAKERSFIELD, CA (KUZZ) — Longtime Bakersfield City Councilman Ken Weir says he will not seek reelection for his Ward 3 seat.
Weir has been undergoing cancer treatment in recent years and has missed several meetings due to declining health.
Before his council tenure, Weir served on the Bakersfield City School District Board of Trustees and was active in local Republican politics.
Weir was first elected to the Bakersfield city council in 2006 and is the council’s longest-serving member.
