BAKERSFIELD, CA (KUZZ) — A Kern County judge has sentenced a Wasco man to 14 years to life in prison, plus an additional four years, for attempting to kill a relative.
Prosecutors say Devaun Means, 49, shot the victim multiple times while he was sleeping inside a shed in April 2025.
The victim survived the attack, and investigators later recovered the firearm from Means’ home.
According to prosecutors, Means and the victim had been involved in a fight the day before the shooting. They say Means told relatives he was not going to forget the confrontation.
