BAKERSFIELD, CA (KUZZ) — An Oildale man has been convicted of murder in connection with a deadly shooting stemming from a dispute over a stolen motorcycle.
A jury found Luis Villachana guilty Friday of first-degree murder, attempted murder, and other charges.
Prosecutors say Villachana confronted several people at a home on Olympic Drive in August 2024 after his motorcycle was reported stolen. During the confrontation, Ruth Cummings was killed and another person was injured.
Villachana faces a sentence of up to 50 years to life in prison, along with additional time, when he is sentenced next month.
