BAKERSFIELD, CA (KUZZ) — A pursuit along Interstate 5 near the Grapevine ended Tuesday morning with the arrest of a suspected drunk driver.
The California Highway Patrol says officers attempted to pull over a Rialto woman shortly after 11 a.m. after receiving reports she was swerving across northbound lanes near Fort Tejon.
Authorities say the woman struck a guardrail but continued driving until officers deployed a spike strip near Taft Highway, bringing the pursuit to an end.
The woman initially refused to exit her vehicle before eventually surrendering. She was arrested on suspicion of DUI and failure to yield. Traffic delays caused by the incident were cleared shortly after noon.
