BAKERSFIELD, CA (KUZZ) — The Kern County Coroner’s Office has ruled the death of a Bakersfield woman found in a canal a drowning.
Shamika Washington, 43, was discovered June 22, 2026, in a canal near the 4100 block of Truxtun Avenue.
Officials say there was no indication of foul play, and the death has been classified as an accident.
