BAKERSFIELD, CA (KUZZ) — A Bakersfield man accused of causing a crash on Highway 99 is facing DUI and child endangerment charges.
The California Highway Patrol says Guillermo Vegafausto was driving a pickup truck that slammed into the back of a big rig near California Avenue Monday afternoon. The collision trapped a passenger inside the pickup.
According to investigators, Vegafausto showed signs of possible intoxication, including slurred speech and the odor of alcohol.
Vegafausto pleaded not guilty Wednesday and is scheduled to return to court August 4.
