BAKERSFIELD, CA (KUZZ) — The Kern County Board of Supervisors is expected to consider an ordinance Tuesday that would create licensing requirements for sidewalk vendors who sell food or merchandise from carts, stands, and other non-motorized setups.
Under the proposal, vendors would be required to obtain a license through the Kern County Sheriff’s Office.
County officials say the changes are intended to promote safer operations and give law enforcement the ability to cite vendors who fail to follow the rules.
