BAKERSFIELD, CA (KUZZ) — A Kern County jury is deliberating the fate of three men accused of murder and robbery in the 2022 killing of a Long Beach man during a drug deal in southwest Bakersfield.
Prosecutors allege Garret Cole, Juan Toscano and Javier Ontiveros planned to rob Taylor Poulin before he was shot and his body was buried in the Arizona desert.
Defense attorneys argue Poulin pulled a gun first and claim key prosecution witnesses changed their stories to avoid facing murder charges themselves.
