BAKERSFIELD, CA (KUZZ) — Plans for a 150-foot public safety radio tower in southwest Bakersfield are being reconsidered after the City Council rejected the proposal Wednesday.
The council voted 5-to-2 against placing the tower at the city’s Water Resources maintenance yard on Buena Vista Road, near Ronald Reagan Elementary School.
City officials say they’ll now search for a new location, but warn moving the project could add up to $1.5 million in costs and delay needed public safety communication upgrades.
The Park at River Walk had been considered as an alternative site.
