LEBEC, CA (KUZZ) — The Buzzard Fire continues to burn along southbound Interstate 5 near Lebec, after starting as a vehicle fire Wednesday morning.
The blaze has scorched approximately 500 acres as of Thursday morning, with firefighters reporting zero percent containment.
An evacuation warning remains in effect for nearby residents. The number four lane of southbound Interstate 5 is closed as ground crews and aircraft work to slow the fire’s spread, protect nearby power lines, and contain the flames.
