BAKERSFIELD, CA (KUZZ) — A high-speed police pursuit ended in a deadly crash Saturday morning in north Bakersfield.
Police say Gabriel Lopez, 20, was driving a vehicle involved in the pursuit when he lost control while attempting to avoid a spike strip near Airport Drive and Olive Drive.
The vehicle struck and killed a man who was on the sidewalk.
Lopez and his passenger, Isaiah Andrade, 21, were arrested and taken to a hospital for treatment.
The victim’s identity has not yet been released.
