RIDGECREST, CA (KUZZ) — A 25-year-old Ridgecrest man is being held without bail after police say he severely injured a 6-month-old baby.
Javier Cuevas was arrested Thursday on suspicion of child cruelty and assault with a deadly weapon.
Police say the infant was brought to Ridgecrest Regional Hospital last Wednesday night with a brain bleed, facial bruising and swelling. The baby was later flown to another hospital for intensive treatment.
Cuevas is scheduled to appear in court September 8, 2026.
