Free After-School Program
The Bakersfield Police Activities League is offering a free After-School Program starting August 26th for children ages 6–17. 12th Annual Kern County Run/Walk
Join the 12th Annual Kern County Run/Walk on Saturday, September 20th from 8 a.m to 12 p.m. at Riverwalk Park. Registration is $20 for adults and $10 for kids ages 3-11. Cancer survivors are free. The event runs from 8 AM to 12 PM, and families can register online at www.KernCountyCancerRun.org.
Feed the Need Food Drive
The Kern County Fair and CAPK Food Bank need volunteers for the Feed the Need food drive on September 23, 2025, from 3–9 PM. Volunteers will help collect canned food donations and welcome fair visitors.

Free Lunch & Learn on joint pain
Adventist Health Bakersfield is hosting a free Lunch & Learn on joint pain, Tuesday, September 30th from noon to 1 p.m. Orthopedic Surgeon Dr. Timothy Galan will discuss hip and knee anatomy, common disorders, prevention, and treatments.
